A Time to Remember

February 04, 2022

Remember, the only choice is optimism, the pessimists never get it right.

I normally write these weekly emails on Saturday and this week was no exception. 20 years ago today, after I had heard the news about the planes crashing into the World Trade Towers and the Pentagon, I had an anxious 4-5 hours. I was hoping to hear from my son, Brad, as he was in the Air Force and stationed and working at the Pentagon. I finally got the call that a lot of other parents, spouses, children, and friends did not.

On September 12th, 2001, America was a unified country. Fast forward to today and it's a totally different story. As we go forward from today, there could be many changes headed our way. Several weeks ago, I wrote about some of the issues that may change and have an affect on the equity markets. One of those issues was any policy changes (read tax increases) that may come our way. The ripple affect from tax law changes might have an impact of earnings and/or interest rate changes.

The most important thing to remember is, that through all the changes that have happened since 9/11, the stock market has continued to be the greatest generation for wealth in our financial system. I firmly believe that 505 of the greatest, best run companies in the world will figure out a way to continue that record.

I did add a couple of articles that I think are worth a look. Most people are convinced that the Social Security system will go broke and, therefore, stop paying benefits. Hopefully the attached article will help shatter some myths. And it's always a good time for an insurance review. I have some additional thoughts about the life insurance paragraph should you want to explore that issue.

As always, should you have any questions or wish to meet with or talk with me, please don't hesitate to email, or call.
